Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reaffirmed a strict zero-tolerance policy against drug-related crimes, warning that those involved will face firm legal action, including the seizure of assets linked to such activities.

Addressing officials and law enforcement agencies, the Chief Minister stressed that the state government is determined to dismantle drug networks and safeguard the youth from the growing threat of narcotics. He directed authorities to strengthen surveillance, enhance intelligence sharing, and act swiftly against offenders.

Shinde stated that individuals engaged in drug trafficking or distribution would not only be arrested but also face financial repercussions, with their properties subject to confiscation under applicable laws. The move is aimed at weakening the financial backbone of such networks.

He also urged greater public awareness and community involvement in tackling drug abuse, encouraging citizens to report suspicious activities. Alongside enforcement, he highlighted the need for preventive measures to create long-term impact.

Officials indicated that the crackdown will involve coordinated efforts between police, anti-narcotics units, and other agencies, focusing on both urban centres and vulnerable areas.

The renewed push reflects the Maharashtra government’s intent to take a stronger and more proactive stance in addressing drug-related offences across the state.
